RENOVATION UPDATE(S) | The Board of Directors of the Tahoe Sands Resort, at their October meeting, reviewed and approved the refurbishment of the first three units at the resort. The decision was made after a review of the preliminary Long-Term Refurbishment and Financial Plan that was presented to the Board of Directors as part of the reserve project approval process. The board elected to start the refurbishment process immediately, based on bids received just prior to the meeting.

The first project entails the completion of the conversion of studio units 102 and 103 into a two-bedroom unit. This will provide a model of what the remaining units will look like when they are upgraded. New low e windows, a remodeled kitchen, an expanded shower stall and the addition of a bath tub will highlight the remodel.

The second project will be the demolition and rebuild of cabin 310. This major work is necessary because the deterioration of the existing structure is so severe. This project will bring the unit back to a safe and habitable condition. Major features of the rebuild will include redesigned kitchen and bathroom facilities along with low e windows and a new Trex porch. This project is tentatively scheduled for completion by July 2010.

The third project will be the complete refurbishment of unit 118, a one-bedroom unit located in the Lanai Building. Completion of this will provide an additional example of what owners can expect when all the units are upgraded. This unit will have a completely redesigned full kitchen, a bathroom with a tub-shower combination as well as energy efficient windows and doors.
